Browser-local player tools
The achievement checklist stores sam-achievements-v2 in localStorage. An older sam-achievements-v1 record may be read once during migration and then removed. The anomaly worksheet stores sam-anomaly-worksheet-v1. These records remain on the device until a reset control is used, site data is cleared, or the browser removes them. The checklist values are not uploaded to this site’s server.
No account is required for these tools. Separate analytics events may record that a control was used, as described below, but the site does not intentionally send free-form checklist content, names, email addresses, game credentials, or save data through those events.
Analytics and selective session replay
The site uses ShipSolo Analytics to measure aggregate pageviews and selected site interactions. It also uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID G-G60ZM1NJMF). GA4 automatic pageviews are disabled: the site sends one explicit page_view using only the page origin and pathname, without the query string or URL fragment. Google Signals and advertising-personalization signals are disabled.
Selected allowlisted interactions may also be sent to GA4 using controlled event names and bounded properties such as a platform category, completion count, boolean result, interface surface, or sanitized destination pathname. The GA4 adapter excludes free-form input and internal achievement, ending, or issue identifiers. ShipSolo Analytics remains a separate integration and continues to operate under its own data practices.
Microsoft Clarity is used for heatmaps, session replay, and interaction measurements on selected public content pages. Clarity may process the page URL, referrer, IP-derived approximate location, browser, device and operating-system information, clicks, scrolling, navigation, and other interaction data. Microsoft may use cookies or similar identifiers, including _clck and _clsk, to connect activity into users or sessions under Microsoft’s own privacy terms.
Clarity loads only on the production https://shiftatmidnight.co apex domain, on an explicitly published canonical content route opened without a query string or URL fragment. It does not load on preview or other hostnames, localhost, unknown or not-found pages, or dedicated browser-local tool pages including Achievements, Doppelganger Checker, Anomaly Worksheet, and the Endings evidence workspace.
On eligible content pages, interactive regions are masked from Clarity recordings. These include homepage search and local-progress previews, multiplayer platform and issue checkers, their inputs, results, and dynamic state. Masking reduces recorded page content inside those regions but does not stop the underlying Clarity network request or technical session measurement on an otherwise eligible page.
Cookies, similar identifiers, and your choices
ShipSolo Analytics is maintained as the site’s aggregate analytics service. GA4, Microsoft Clarity, and advertising providers may use cookies, browser storage, web beacons, or similar identifiers for measurement, delivery, fraud prevention, and reporting. Provider-controlled retention and cookie behavior may change under their published policies.
You can block GA4, Clarity, or other third-party requests with browser privacy controls or a content blocker, delete cookies and site data through browser settings, and clear this site’s localStorage to remove browser-local checklist state. Blocking analytics or Clarity does not prevent the published content or local player tools from working.
Adsterra and advertising data
The site uses Adsterra display and native advertising only on content routes listed in its internal advertising policy. Dedicated browser-local tools, evidence pilots, privacy, legal, source, contact, and other trust pages are excluded. Adsterra and its advertising partners may process technical information such as an IP address, browser and device information, the requested page, referrer, approximate location, request timing, ad impressions, and interactions. They may use cookies, browser storage, web beacons, or similar identifiers for delivery, measurement, reporting, security, and fraud prevention.
Advertising scripts are loaded after site navigation protections are installed, and empty or failed placements are removed. These site controls reduce unwanted navigation but cannot replace provider or browser security and do not guarantee the safety or availability of every third-party destination. Adsterra controls information processed by its advertising systems under its own privacy terms and retention practices. Displaying an advertisement does not mean that ShiftAtMidnight.co endorses the advertiser, destination, product, or claim.

Hosting, email, retention, and choices
Cloudflare provides hosting, content delivery, security, and request handling and therefore processes ordinary network and security logs under its own terms. If a visitor emails the site, the message, address, and supplied evidence are processed to review and respond to the request and may be retained while the correction, rights, abuse, or legal record remains relevant.
Browser controls can remove localStorage and cookies or block third-party scripts. Advertising and consent requirements vary by region, and the advertising provider may limit delivery or request consent where required. Privacy or deletion questions can be sent to support@shiftatmidnight.co. Requests may be limited where records must be kept for security, rights, or legal reasons.
