STORY MODE CLUE LIST

All 13 fixed Story encounters

Full-release Story Mode

Search by Night, customer, or clue. These are encounter-specific comparisons—not permanent labels attached to a face or name.

13 encounters shown

NIGHT 11 clue

Nathan Calloway

For this encounter, the computer database lists him as deceased while Nathan is standing at the counter.

KEY CLUE · DATABASEWhen you search Nathan Calloway, does the computer database list him as deceased?Search the exact full name “Nathan Calloway” and read the status or cause-of-death field.

This pack applies to Nathan’s fixed Night 1 Story encounter, not every customer whose record is difficult to find.

NIGHT 11 clue

Julietta Granger

Compare Julietta’s database occupation with the uniform and job story presented at the counter.

KEY CLUE · APPEARANCEDoes the database describe Julietta as a plumber while the visitor is dressed and speaking like a flight attendant?Read the occupation in Julietta’s computer record, then compare it with her uniform and job answer.

This is the fixed Night 1 Story encounter; clothing by itself is not a universal rule for other customers.

NIGHT 22 clues

Norbert

This encounter uses two linked checks: the presented ID and the result of an exact computer search.

KEY CLUE · IDDoes Norbert present an ID that fails the visible identity check in this encounter?Inspect the presented name and visible ID details before relying on the computer search alone.
KEY CLUE · DATABASEDoes searching the exact presented name return no matching computer record?Search the exact name shown on the ID and confirm that spelling before marking no result.

A failed search is meaningful here because it is paired with this fixed Story encounter; it is not a rule for every unknown name.

NIGHT 31 clue

Tommy Delgado

The first Tommy says he is shopping for his sister Catherine; her database record is the cross-check.

KEY CLUE · DATABASEDoes the first Tommy say he is shopping for Catherine while her database record says she is deceased?Search the sister’s exact name introduced in the conversation, not only Tommy’s own record.

Night 3 contains both a first Tommy encounter with this conflict and a later real Tommy who mourns Catherine.

NIGHT 61 clue

Ramona Delgado

The relevant evidence comes from the EmotiScope readout rather than appearance alone.

KEY CLUE · TOOLDoes the EmotiScope display “Craving Human Flesh” for Ramona?Use the EmotiScope on Ramona and compare the exact wording, not a general impression of her mood.

This pack records Ramona’s fixed Story encounter and does not make every unusual emotion a universal result.

NIGHT 72 clues

Louisa Mari

Louisa is a deliberate false-positive trap: the real person has a leg difference, but the first visitor’s deformation is extreme.

KEY CLUE · APPEARANCEIs the visitor’s left leg elongated far beyond the documented human leg difference?Compare the degree and side of the difference; do not treat any uneven legs as the same clue.
SUPPORTING · HISTORYDid the manager call ahead and did the visitor acknowledge that warning?Recall whether the manager warned you about Louisa before this visitor arrived.

Night 7 includes a first extreme visitor and a separate real Louisa whose condition is announced by the manager.

NIGHT 81 clue

David Kennedy

David’s statement about his twin sister must be compared with the obituary on the notice-board newspaper.

KEY CLUE · NEWSPAPERDoes David say his twin sister is at home while the newspaper shows her obituary?Read the obituary on the notice board, then compare the named person with David’s answer.

This clue depends on the Night 8 Story newspaper and David’s exact statement, not on his name alone.

NIGHT 91 clue

Clyde Dawson

The key is shared history: the real Clyde taught the tutorial and should not behave as if you have never met.

KEY CLUE · HISTORYDoes this Night 9 Clyde act as if he is meeting you for the first time?Compare his greeting and answers with the fact that Clyde instructed you during the tutorial.

This Night 9 visit is conditional on the real Clyde still being alive; Clyde’s earlier Story visits are documented as human encounters.

NIGHT 91 clue

Aria Romero

Conversation can appear normal; the documented key clue is visible through the Anomaly Lens.

KEY CLUE · TOOLDoes the Anomaly Lens reveal a non-human anomaly on Aria?Use the Anomaly Lens on Aria; do not rely on her normal-looking conversation alone.

This is Aria’s fixed Night 9 Story encounter; a normal conversation does not replace the tool check.

NIGHT 101 clue

Vivien Marrow

Vivien’s fixed Story clue is an Anomaly Lens reveal.

KEY CLUE · TOOLDoes the Anomaly Lens reveal the documented anomaly or jumpscare on Vivien?Use the Anomaly Lens and verify the result rather than treating pale skin or black clothing as sufficient.

This pack applies to Vivien’s Night 10 Story appearance and does not generalize pale clothing or complexion into a rule.

NIGHT 111 clue

Ethan Voss

Ethan’s work claim must be compared with the newspaper report about the east-side power outage.

KEY CLUE · NEWSPAPERDoes Ethan claim he worked all day at his east-side laundromat while the newspaper says the outage halted business there?Read the east-side outage story, then compare it with Ethan’s exact account of his day.

This clue depends on the current Story newspaper and Ethan’s exact laundromat claim.

NIGHT 121 clue

Maya Davila

Maya’s date story must be compared with the newspaper report that her husband is missing.

KEY CLUE · NEWSPAPERDoes Maya say she returned from a date with her husband while the newspaper says her husband is missing?Read the missing-person newspaper item and compare the named husband with Maya’s answer.

This is a fixed Night 12 Story clue; relationship claims for other customers require their own records.

NIGHT 131 clue

Kevin Larson

Kevin is the clearest warning against permanent name labels: his Night 1 encounter differs from the fixed Night 13 Lens result.

KEY CLUE · TOOLDoes the Anomaly Lens reveal the documented dancing or “groovy” non-human form on Kevin?Use the Anomaly Lens; do not reuse Kevin’s Night 1 result as a permanent identity label.

Kevin’s Night 1 Story visit is documented as human; this evidence pack applies only to his fixed Night 13 appearance.

Every encounter above records both research references below. They provide overlapping Story encounter details, but the site has not independently reproduced every clue in-game or established a field-by-field agreement ledger. COMMON QUESTIONS

Story checker FAQ

Is this a complete Shift At Midnight doppelgangers list?

It is a version-scoped research list of 13 fixed full-release Story encounters compiled from two community references. The site has not independently reproduced every clue in-game, and the list is not a complete Endless Mode roster or a permanent label for each name.

Can the same customer be human in one Night and a doppelganger later?

Yes. Kevin Larson is documented as human on Night 1 but has a fixed Anomaly Lens conflict on Night 13. Night and encounter context matter.

What does “Not enough evidence” mean?

A key clue is unanswered or could not be verified. Return to the named database, newspaper, dialogue, appearance, history, or tool check instead of treating Unknown as a match.

Does this checker work in Endless Mode?

No. The current packs are limited to fixed Story Mode encounters. Endless Mode uses randomized shifts and needs separate, reproducible validation.
